How Much Does a Vehicle Wrap Cost in Adelaide?

How much does a vehicle wrap cost in Adelaide? The honest answer: there's no flat price, because a wrap is priced on how much of the vehicle you cover, the size and shape of the panels, and the days of labour it takes to fit. Gigantic Signs prices every job on those real drivers, and you can get an instant online quote from our Kent Town workshop.

full vehicle wrap on a tradie van - gigantic signs adelaide

We've been wrapping and sign-writing vehicles for Adelaide businesses for over 30 years, and it's built and fitted at our Kent Town facility. A wrap is one of the best-value bits of advertising a sole trader can buy -- your van works the roads all day and pays for itself many times over -- but it's also the most labour-intensive vehicle job we do. That's why the price moves so much from one vehicle to the next. Have a look at the full vehicle signage range, then read on for what actually decides the number.

What decides the price of a wrap?

A vehicle wrap isn't sold by the square metre like a flat panel, because two vans the same size can take very different amounts of work. These are the five things that move the price on every quote we do:

  • Coverage -- a few door decals is a small job; a full wrap covering every panel, bumper and pillar is the biggest. More vinyl and more fitting time means more cost.
  • Vehicle size and shape -- a small hatchback is quick; a high-roof Sprinter or a ute with a canopy has far more surface and more awkward curves to work around.
  • Panel complexity -- deep body lines, recesses, roof gutters, door handles and mirrors all take patience. Curves and rivets slow a fit right down compared with a flat, simple side.
  • Surface prep -- how clean and sound the paint is before we start (more on this below, because it's the one people forget).
  • Design and removal -- custom artwork adds design time, and stripping an old wrap or faded signage off before the new one goes on is extra labour again.

The quickest way to see where your vehicle lands is to price it on our instant quote tool -- it asks the right questions and gives you a real number for your job, not a vague "from" figure.

Part wrap vs full wrap

You don't have to wrap the whole vehicle to look sharp. The choice between a part wrap and a full wrap is the single biggest lever on price, so it's worth understanding the three tiers:

  • Cut vinyl lettering and logos -- your business name, number and logo applied straight to the paint. The cheapest way to get sign-written, and it reads clearly at a glance on the road.
  • Part wrap -- printed panels over the doors, bonnet or rear, with the factory paint showing between. You get a printed, full-colour look for a fraction of a full wrap's coverage.
  • Full wrap -- printed vinyl over the entire body, including the tricky panels. Total colour change, maximum impact, and the most material and labour of the three.

If a full wrap is more than you need right now, there are cheaper ways to get your business on the road. Our guide to vehicle signage costs across the whole spectrum walks through the lot, and for a removable option that comes off in seconds, magnetic signs for cars are hard to beat -- ideal if you swap between a work vehicle and a personal one.

Why does surface condition matter so much?

This is the part most people don't expect, and it's the one we're straightest about. Vinyl only bonds properly to sound, clean paint. If the surface underneath is rusty, flaking, freshly resprayed or covered in dodgy filler, the wrap will look bad and start lifting early -- and that's not a fault in the wrap, it's the surface failing beneath it.

So surface condition is a genuine cost and quality driver. A vehicle with clean, healthy paint wraps beautifully and lasts years. A vehicle with rust bubbles or bad repairs needs that sorted first, which adds prep cost -- and sometimes we'll tell you no. If we can see a wrap won't stick or won't last on your panels, we'll say so up front rather than take your money and have it peel in a few months. It's the honest call, and it saves you paying twice.

  • Rust -- bubbling or spreading rust must be treated before wrapping, or it keeps working under the vinyl.
  • Fresh paint -- a new respray needs weeks to fully cure and gas off before vinyl goes on, or the bond fails.
  • Poor repairs -- flaking clear-coat, filler and dents all show through a wrap and shorten its life.

How long does a wrap take?

Plan on the vehicle being with us for one to three days for a full wrap. It's a hands-on, careful job -- the vehicle is cleaned and prepped, panels are measured, the printed vinyl is laid, heated and worked into every curve and recess, then trimmed and finished. A small part wrap or cut lettering is quicker; a full wrap on a large van with lots of complex panels sits at the longer end. Rushing a wrap is how you get bubbles and lifting edges, so we take the time it needs to do it once and do it right.

A quick Adelaide example

A sole-trader tradie came to Gigantic Signs wanting a full wrap on a work van, and wanting to lock it in fast -- price it, book it, done. When we looked over the vehicle there was rust starting along one rear panel and a patch of ordinary filler on a door. We were upfront: wrap straight over that and it'll bubble and lift within months. He got the panel sorted first, then we wrapped it properly. It came out clean, it's stayed clean, and he's had it working the roads as his best bit of advertising since. One honest conversation up front saved him wrapping the thing twice.

Frequently asked questions

Can you wrap over rust?

No. Rust must be treated first, or it keeps spreading under the vinyl and the wrap lifts. If your panels have rust, we'll tell you honestly what needs doing before a wrap is worth it.

Is a part wrap cheaper than a full wrap?

Yes, quite a bit. Less coverage means less printed vinyl and less fitting time. Cut lettering and logos are cheaper again, and magnetic signs are the lowest-cost, fully removable option.

How do I get an accurate price?

Use our instant online quote tool. It asks about your vehicle and the coverage you want and gives you a real number on the spot, so you can price it and book it without waiting on a callback.
